Keeping pets

A very good morning to the Headmaster, teachers and my fellow students. The title of my talk this morning is 'Why People Keep Pets'.

Pets, such as dogs and cats, fill a void in people's lives. People who live alone keep pets so that they have someone to talk to. It is wonderful to come home and have your dog or cat run to you to let you know how much you were missed. These animals provide people with companionship.

Pets have the capacity to give both adults and children a sense of responsibility. Some people who have pets get up early in the morning to take them for walks. Most people who have pets understand the importance  of feeding their pets on time and giving them clean drinking water. Animals like dogs need to be bathed at least once a fortnight. Pet owners also need to keep a check on their pets' health.

Some people keep pets because they prefer the company of these animal to that of other people. Pets do not care whether their owners are dressed in the latest fashion. They love their owners because of the love and care given by them.

Lastly many pets are loyal and affectionate. They accept you as you are and their love in unconditional. They can be great listeners and can be very funny.

  Thank you.
